Her early newsroom experience allowed her to understand how television news is produced. She later moved into writing, producing, reporting, sports coverage, and anchoring.
This gradual career progression helped her develop skills across different parts of television journalism.
Erin Colton Education
Erin Colton attended Syracuse University, where she studied sports broadcast journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Her choice of study reflected her early interest in sports and broadcasting. Syracuse has a strong reputation for communications and journalism education, making it a natural fit for someone interested in a television career.
Before college, Colton was also active in sports. Her background in athletics became useful during her later work as a sports reporter and anchor.
Her education provided the foundation for a career that eventually moved beyond sports into broader news and community reporting.
Erin Colton Career
Erin Colton began her professional career with News 12 Long Island in 2004.
Her first job was as a production assistant. This position gave her experience with the daily operations of a television newsroom.
She eventually worked as a writer and producer before moving into on-air positions. Her career then expanded into sports anchoring and reporting.
Over the years, she became increasingly recognizable to News 12 viewers. Her combination of newsroom experience and on-camera ability helped establish her as a respected journalist.

Erin Colton Salary in 2026
The exact Erin Colton salary for 2026 has not been publicly confirmed.
This is an important distinction because several online websites publish estimated salaries for television personalities. These estimates can differ significantly and may not be based on official employment information.
For a journalist with more than 20 years of television experience, compensation can depend on many factors. These may include job title, responsibilities, experience, contract negotiations, market size, broadcasting schedule, and additional assignments.
Colton’s long tenure with News 12 and her senior on-air role suggest that she is an experienced television professional. However, experience alone does not provide enough information to calculate her exact salary.
Therefore, any specific salary number found online should be considered an estimate rather than a confirmed fact.
Is Erin Colton’s Salary Public?
No official public record currently establishes Erin Colton’s exact annual salary.
Television news anchors often have private employment contracts. Unless the employer or the journalist publicly discloses compensation, an exact figure cannot be confirmed.
This is why responsible reporting should separate verified information from online estimates.
The safest answer in 2026 is that Erin Colton’s precise salary remains private.
