Who Is Liesel Jolly?
Liesel Jolly is a sports sponsorship professional whose career sits at the intersection of business, marketing, and football. She has developed experience in creating partnerships between major brands, athletes, sporting organisations, and audiences.
Her career is particularly notable because she became involved in women’s football through the commercial side of the sport rather than through playing or coaching. This has allowed her to work on sponsorship campaigns, sporting events, athlete initiatives, and programmes designed to support the development of women’s football.
Industry profiles identify Jolly with Visa’s women’s football operations in Europe. Her responsibilities have included managing sponsorship activity and supporting programmes connected with female footballers.
Liesel Jolly and Visa
Visa has been the most important organisation in Jolly’s public professional career. Recent profiles indicate that she has spent many years working for the company across sponsorship and partnership-related responsibilities.
Her involvement with women’s football became especially important after Visa announced its dedicated UEFA women’s football sponsorship in 2018. UEFA described Visa at the time as becoming its first sponsor dedicated specifically to women’s football. The partnership covered major women’s competitions and represented an important development in the commercial structure of the sport.
Jolly later became closely involved with Visa’s women’s football strategy. Her work has included sponsorship management, athlete marketing, tournament activation, and projects aimed at increasing opportunities and visibility for women in football.
Her Role in Women’s Football
Jolly’s contribution to football is mainly commercial and strategic. She is not known as a professional football player. Instead, she works on the business side of the sport.
Her professional responsibilities have included developing sponsorship strategies, managing partnerships, supporting athletes, and helping brands connect with football audiences.
According to the Women’s Football Awards profile available in 2026, Jolly manages Visa’s UEFA property portfolio and the strategy, management, and activation of its Team Visa Women’s Football programme.
This type of work is important because modern professional sport depends on more than what happens during matches. Sponsorship can provide financial resources, marketing exposure, fan engagement, and opportunities for athletes.
The Second Half Programme
One of the projects associated with Liesel Jolly is The Second Half, a programme designed to help professional female footballers prepare for careers beyond their playing careers.
Jolly has been publicly connected with the development of the initiative alongside former England international Karen Carney. The programme focuses on the transition that footballers eventually face when their playing careers change or end.
The idea reflects a broader issue in professional sport. Athletes can spend many years concentrating on competition, training, and performance, while having limited time to develop a second professional pathway.
The Second Half therefore connects football experience with career development and opportunities outside the pitch. Jolly’s involvement demonstrates that her work extends beyond traditional sponsorship campaigns and into athlete development.
Liesel Jolly and Karen Carney
Liesel Jolly has a documented professional connection with former England footballer Karen Carney through The Second Half and women’s football activities.
Carney is a well-known former England international who later became involved in football analysis and other work around the sport. Public information confirms her professional involvement with The Second Half alongside Jolly.
There have also been online claims about their private relationship. However, reliable public evidence does not establish those personal claims clearly enough to present them as fact.
Therefore, the safest and most accurate description is that Jolly and Carney have a documented professional connection through women’s football and The Second Half.
Liesel Jolly’s Education and Early Life
Information about Jolly’s early life is considerably less certain than information about her professional career.
Several websites have published detailed claims about her university education, including specific degrees and dates. However, those details are not consistently supported by authoritative sources. Some professional-profile information has also been cited in online biographies, but the complete academic history is not sufficiently established to state every qualification as confirmed fact.
For the same reason, details about her parents, siblings, childhood, birthplace, and family background should be treated cautiously.
This is important when researching Liesel Jolly because many online biography pages repeat the same information without showing a strong primary source.
Liesel Jolly Age and Date of Birth
Liesel Jolly’s exact date of birth has not been reliably established through strong public sources.
Some websites publish a specific birth year and calculate an age for her in 2026. However, those claims are not consistently supported by authoritative documentation.
Because of this, it would be misleading to give an exact age as confirmed information. A responsible biography should make the distinction between documented information and claims that circulate online.
Her professional achievements are much better documented than her age or personal background.
Liesel Jolly Career Achievements
Jolly has received recognition within the sports industry for her work in football sponsorship and marketing.
One notable achievement came in 2025 when she won the Corporate Football Trailblazer category at the Global Football Industry Awards. Industry coverage identifies Jolly of Visa as the winner.
She was also highly commended in the Outstanding Employee category at the Employer’s Excellence Awards in 2024. This was a highly commended recognition rather than a category win, an important distinction when describing her record.
Her work has also placed her in industry discussions and judging panels connected with sports business and sponsorship.
Liesel Jolly and Women’s EURO
Jolly’s work has included involvement in major women’s football tournaments.
Following UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, she discussed Visa’s tournament activation and her involvement in the event. Her account described Visa activity across all 31 matches in eight cities and her attendance at 14 matches during the tournament. These figures come from Jolly’s own professional account rather than an independent audit.
The experience illustrates the scale of work involved in managing a major international sports sponsorship. Such projects require coordination between brands, sporting organisations, athletes, venues, media, and fans.
Liesel Jolly’s Charity Work
Jolly has also been publicly associated with The Rachel Yankey Foundation.
An indexed Charity Commission record identifies a Liesel Jolly as a trustee of the foundation from May 2024. The organisation is associated with creating opportunities for girls through football.
This association fits with the broader direction of Jolly’s professional work, which has increasingly focused on women’s football and opportunities for female athletes.
What Is Liesel Jolly Doing in 2026?
As of 2026, Jolly remains associated with senior sponsorship work at Visa focused on women’s football and women’s sport.
The exact title used for her varies between industry organisations. The Women’s Football Awards identifies her as Women’s Football Lead at Visa in Europe, while other industry sources have used titles such as Women Sports Sponsorship Lead.
The variation in wording does not change the broader picture. Her professional focus remains centered on sports sponsorship, partnerships, women’s football, and athlete-related programmes.
It is also important to distinguish Visa’s original dedicated UEFA women’s football agreement, which ran from 2018 through 2025, from Jolly’s continuing career in women’s sports sponsorship. The original agreement should not automatically be described as continuing unchanged in 2026 without confirmation of a new arrangement.
Liesel Jolly Personal Life
Compared with her professional activities, Liesel Jolly’s personal life remains relatively private.
Reliable public sources provide considerably more information about her work than about her family, relationships, children, or personal finances.
There are online claims concerning these subjects, but they should not automatically be treated as established facts. In particular, an exact salary, net worth, marriage status, or private relationship should not be stated as fact without a reliable source.
Her public profile is primarily based on her career in sports sponsorship and her involvement in women’s football.
